Celebrate & Benchmark

< Back to Roadmap

This work is hard. This can be especially true for BIPOC. We have to collectively be stronger than racism for change which requires persistence.

Celebration can also be sensitive as you don’t want to seem trivial or goofy about something as serious as racial equity work. Here are a few pointers!

Benchmarks can be moments in time that you have planned or organized around big actions. Maybe the job descriptions have been overhauled and audited for racial inclusion. Perhaps the holiday policy is more inclusive. These can be pivotal moments to report out completed work.”

Remember to share appreciation when appropriate for deep lifts towards racial justice.

Track and keep inventory to be transparent about progress as well as opportunities to improve.

Be sure to include any feedback you have received about where your organization is making progress.

Celebration can include appreciations at the end of each meeting, recognition of work accomplishments, and opportunities for community-building with staff engaged in equity work.
